AUGUST
In winter a new TATORT Münster will air on german TV, my third collaboration with director Janis Rattenni. I was visiting the set in spring to take in the athmosphere, reconnect with the team and could even record some of the ethnic instruments that were part of the set decoration. These sounds will be heard in the score which is again mixed at StudioFunk in Hamburg. Of course, my sample library Forensica from 2022 finds extensive use again as well as the themes I wrote for the characters of Thiel and Boerne.
I am also very happy to announce my teaming up with two german production music companies, DNA-Musik and Klangidee respectively. I am in the middle of creating three library music albums in parallel.
This year saw the publication of my first two non film related albums. Number on was really wild, as a basis I used only the material I got from transforming cloud photographs into sound. The result is published on all streaming platforms as MUSIC FROM CLOUDS, a mix of ambient and drone. Here´s a music video to give you the idea: https://vimeo.com/848388987/c5dc650fb7
My second release was COLOUR FORM SOUND, created for an exhibition of contemporary photography in Mannheim. Relaxed synth lounge that served as a background for the vernissage.

A new TV score is in the making: adding my voice to one of the crown jewels of German TV, the prestigious TATORT series running since the 1970s. Filming will commence in March (with the composer shortly appearing for a cameo) and we are looking forward to a celebrative cinema pre-premiere on location in Münster in August. Current work includes recording bones and pathology sounds for instrument programming.
DECEMBER

NOVEMBER
On Nov 25th, DER FLENSBURGKRIMI aired to a sensational 6,21 million viewers, the second best number ever in the history of ARD´s Thursday night crime features.
OCTOBER
Air date for DER FLENSBURG-KRIMI: DER TOTE AM STRAND is now set for November 25th, 8:15 pm on ARD.
Not strictly concerning this blog, but what an event: on October 16th I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see 89 year old John Williams perform his music with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. This concert will be treasured in my heart for all life.

AUGUST
Work on the TV crime feature is finished now. Everything was delivered snug and in time. Two wonderful days of mixing in Hamburg at M+E studios. The air date will be in December now, to be decided shortly. I really enjoyed being part of such a wonderful team!

My first production music album "Desert Song" is getting ready to be published by a British company subcontracting to one of the biggest players worldwide. Details after the release!
And my first score for a feature film on German state TV is in the works. Der Flensburgkrimi: Heimkehr is coproduced by ARDdegeto and NDR and will be broadcast nationwide on prime time in autumn. Stay tuned for the exact air date!

Things are slowly getting traction again. I am in talks for two feature films currently in production / preproduction and my first library music album will be taken up by a British publisher.
FEBRUARY
One year into the pandemic, with the film market lying lowest ever, yet there is a lot to do. The ten year anniversary of mkscoring with the upcoming publications keeps me quite busy. I am preparing an album sampler with tracks covering a broad selection of my soundtracks, many titles never before released. The web page you are currently browsing is freshly done with a responsive design. There will be music videos and sheet music and at least one album of complete short film soundtracks. A lot to go for!
