It´s all coming together! The first airing of TATORT - "Ein Freund, ein guter Freund" on Nov 13th has reached a sensational 13,8 million viewers! The air dates coincides with publishing the corresponding soundtrack album, preceded by a radio interview in Klassikradio on Nov 10th.
These were some very busy months! Recording in the forensic department of Heidelberg University Clinic, programming instruments, preparing the finals of my next production music album GENTLE PULSES (which has recently been released), being on set in Köln for TATORT performing live on camera, writing and premixing the score for the upcoming "Tatort Münster: Ein Freund, ein guter Freund" and finally going to Hamburg to supervise the final mixdown. (And of course, all that freelance work in parallel to rocking a big semester with my students.) Is it only logical that I came down with Covid shortly after...? In any case, very much looking forward to restful holidays now! I´ll be traveling on directly to the big preview event in Münster on Aug 30th. 2000 people will be gathering in a soccer stadium to watch the Tatort preview with my music. More than amazing, and I am so happy and thankful for the way things are going!
Two more production music albums will see the light of the day shortly: GENTLE PULSES for Absolute Music Library and CHINA for Gargantuan Music.
A new TV score is in the making: adding my voice to one of the crown jewels of German TV, the prestigious TATORT series running since the 1970s. Filming will commence in March (with the composer shortly appearing for a cameo) and we are looking forward to a celebrative cinema pre-premiere on location in Münster in August. Current work includes recording bones and pathology sounds for instrument programming.
There is a fine selection of sheet music titles available now via Gumroad. You can find 14 piano arrangements of film cues spanning the last ten years. Buy them single, grouped into film sets or the complete album. The perfect companion to the anniversary audio album!
I am now officially represented by ohrfilm agency and am looking forward to a fruitful collaboration.
On Nov 25th, DER FLENSBURGKRIMI aired to a sensational 6,21 million viewers, the second best number ever in the history of ARD´s Thursday night crime features.
Air date for DER FLENSBURG-KRIMI: DER TOTE AM STRAND is now set for November 25th, 8:15 pm on ARD.
Not strictly concerning this blog, but what an event: on October 16th I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see 89 year old John Williams perform his music with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. This concert will be treasured in my heart for all life.
Two more albums are out! Check the "buy" page for more info.
MKSCORING - TEN YEARS OF FILM SOUNDTRACKS (a compilation of scores from 2011 - 2021)
MR STOWLICKER / HIDING PLACES (the complete scores for two Australian short films)
Work on the TV crime feature is finished now. Everything was delivered snug and in time. Two wonderful days of mixing in Hamburg at M+E studios. The air date will be in December now, to be decided shortly. I really enjoyed being part of such a wonderful team!
"Desert Song" is now officially released with The Perfect Music Library UK (Adam Wakeman´s company) as a subcontractor to APM Music USA. Scroll down this page to find me at TPML. The album can be listened to on the APM site here.
Wonderful and exciting developments on all sides!
For all german speakers, here is a podcast interview about my film scoring experiences.
My first production music album "Desert Song" is getting ready to be published by a British company subcontracting to one of the biggest players worldwide. Details after the release!
And my first score for a feature film on German state TV is in the works. Der Flensburgkrimi: Heimkehr is coproduced by ARDdegeto and NDR and will be broadcast nationwide on prime time in autumn. Stay tuned for the exact air date!
The digital edition of the anniversary album is published meanwhile. Please head over to the "buy" page to check it out!
Things are slowly getting traction again. I am in talks for two feature films currently in production / preproduction and my first library music album will be taken up by a British publisher.
One year into the pandemic, with the film market lying lowest ever, yet there is a lot to do. The ten year anniversary of mkscoring with the upcoming publications keeps me quite busy. I am preparing an album sampler with tracks covering a broad selection of my soundtracks, many titles never before released. The web page you are currently browsing is freshly done with a responsive design. There will be music videos and sheet music and at least one album of complete short film soundtracks. A lot to go for!
